JEE Advanced - 2023 Exam Pattern:

JEE Advanced - 2023 exam will be conducted in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It comprises of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 and both the papers are compulsory. Each paper consists of 3 sections viz., Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The question paper will contain questions like comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates. There is no option of selecting a preferred language at the time of registration. At the time of examination, the candidate has the option to choose the preferred language — the language of question paper in Hindi and English.

For incorrect answers, negative marks will be deducted. Details of the marking scheme are provided under the instructions section at the time of the exam. Although adequate care will be taken for the correctness of the questions, if a question(s) is required to be omitted, full marks will be awarded to all candidates for that question.

The candidate who is appearing in both the papers will be considered for Ranking. The marks achieved by any candidate in any subject (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) in Paper 1 and Paper 2 is equal to the marks obtained by a candidate in Maths, Physics, Chemistry in JEE Advanced - 2023. The Rank list is entirely based on aggregate marks obtained by a candidate. If there is a tie in aggregate marks scored by the candidate then among themselves Ranking will be determined according to the following sequence:

  • Candidate acquiring higher positive marks,
  • Candidate acquiring higher marks in Maths,
  • Candidate acquiring higher marks in Physics &
  • Candidates will be assigned the same rank.

Note: If step 1 does not meet the rank list criteria, we will check step 2, if step 2 also does not break the tie, then we will check step 3. If all three stages do not break the tie, then the candidate will be awarded the same rank.

Candidate will get a scribble pad for rough work at the beginning of every paper of JEE Advanced - 2023.

All JEE Advanced - 2023 students enroll with Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2023 and fill in course choices to be eligible for admission in IITs. If any candidate has not registered themselves, will not be considered for admission to any program in IITs.

To qualify in IITs, candidates have to pass all five subjects.

  • Any subject other than the above four
