NCERT Solutions for Class 8 Civics Chapter 2 Understanding Secularism

India adopted a strategy of separating the power of religion and the power of the State. Secularism refers to this separation of religion from the State. The Indian Constitution allows individuals the freedom to live by their religious beliefs and practice it. A secular country is one that gives all its citizens the freedom to practise the religion of their choice, and no majority can deprive them of this freedom. Freedom of religion, citizenship and separation of State and religion is the primary feature of western secularism. The spirit of toleration is the foundation of the theory of Indian secularism.
