Introduction of print technology was seen in China, Japan, and Korea. The Buddhist missionaries from China introduced hand-printing technology into Japan around 768 – 770 AD. The Buddhist Diamond Sutra, which was printed in 868 AD, was the oldest Japanese book. In 1295, Marco Polo, a great explorer returned to Italy with complete knowledge of printing. Italians started printing books with woodblocks and soon technology reached to every part of Europe. It’s hard to imagine a world without printed matter. We find printed books, journals, newspapers, official circulars, calendars, diaries, advertisements, etc. This world of print has a history in itself, which has shaped our contemporary world. History elaborately explains the development of print, from its beginnings in East Asia to its expansion in Europe in India.
